At present at the academic stuff includes 132 professors and teachers, 24 of them are Doctors of Medical Sciences (16,6%), and 54 – Candidates of Medical Sciences. There are 2 members from the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus – the academician Rutski A.V. and Demidchik Y.E., rector of the Academy, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences.
Every year the faculty offers more than 300 retraining and advanced courses in accordance with the needs of practical healthcare. The courses are attended by more than 5000 of learners.
Due to the cooperation between the Academy and leading Universities and hospitals of Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Japan, China and other countries, up-to-date medical and diagnostic technologies are implemented into education and medical practice.
Learners from this faculty have an opportunity to study new operation methods with the application of new technologies.
Thus, at the department of otorinolaringology the following operations have been mastered: cochlear implantation, respiratory tracts lumen repair operations at larynx sterosis, functional nose and paranasal sinuses surgery, radiosurgery and laser surgery at the ENT-organs pathology.
The department of surgery has put into medical practice angoiembolization of celiac trunk false aneurysms, laser coagulation of perforants, laparoscopic colonectomy, and laparoscopic splenectomy with the temporary vessel occlusion of splenic arteries. Staff of the department of oral surgery has developed a new scientific course concerning treatment of congenital jaw malformations. It includes osteoplasty at gnathoschisis, method of using plasma rich with erythrocytes at congenital lower jaw malformations.
The stuff of the department of ophthalmology performs high-tech operations concerning visual organs reconstruction: cataracta phacoemulsification, surgery vitreoretinalis, keratoplasty, orbit plastic surgery, reconstruction surgery of visual organs trauma, and surgical treatment of glaucoma with drainage.
The department of cardiosurgery with the course of transplantology provides learners with courses which cover the following methods: operative treatment of congenital heart disease and acquired valvular disease, ischemic heart disease, heart rate and conduction disturbances, donor conditioning and organ transplantation.
Departments of the faculty develop modern methods of prosthetic dentistry and treatment of parodentium diseases, diagnostics and treatment of oncological diseases, treatment of blood diseases, musculoskeletal system, and urogenital system treatment methods.
Learners can master the methods of intensive therapy of critical conditions and acute poisoning at the department of anesthesiology and resuscitation, treatment of patients suffered from burn disease with the application of conservative therapy methods and plastic surgery – at the department of emergency surgery, principles of organization and provision of patients (with surgical pathology) with medical care in polyclinic conditions (courses of ambulatory surgery at the department of emergency surgery), they can also learn actual questions of plastic, reconstruction, aesthetic surgery and microsurgery at the department of surgery.
All the mentioned operative methods are carried out with the help of modern medical equipment accessible at the leading healthcare establishments of Minsk and the Minsk region. |
