History of the department:
The department of clinical pharmacology and therapy was formed on the basis of the department of therapy – 2. Until 2002 the department of therapy - 2 was headed by the Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor V.V.Romanenko, from 2002 – by A.V. Hapaluk, the Doctor of Medical Sciences.
 The department has developed a test computer program for the certification of doctors, a program on clinical pharmacology for physicians. The department also provides treatment and consultations for the population.
Advanced training courses:
Advanced training courses tackle the questions of clinical pharmacology and medicine usage in therapy of cardiovascular diseases, respiratory organs and musculoskeletal system, and are also oriented for the practical healthcare needs.
Forms of training:
lectures, seminars, participation in scientific, clinical, hospital anatomic conferences. There are clinical discussions with the presence of patients during practical lessons. Learners regularly make ward rounds, learn to evaluate the results of modern laboratory and instrumental examinations.
Scientific work:
Researches are made in the framework of scientific and research work «Studying of constitutional (psychosomatic, neurohumoral and metabolic) characteristics of cardiorespiratory system diseases and evaluation of pharmaeconomic grounded treatment system».
  
Prior directions of scientific work are cardiovascular and respiratory system diseases: heart diseases, metabolic syndrome, chronic obstructive lung disease. There is an elaboration of pharmaeconomic grounded treatment methods. During the training a special attention is paid to pharmacotherapy of viscus, based on the results from international researches.
