History of the department:
Department of clinical laboratory diagnostics was formed in Belarusian State Institute of Advanced training for doctors on April 20, 1970. Professor Kolb became the first head of the department (1970-2000).
And since July 1999 the department has been headed by Doctor of Medical Science, professor Kamyshnikov.
Since the department was formed and till present 16 lecturers have worked here: 4 — professors, 4 — associate professors, 8 — senior teachers, including 4 — Doctors of Medical Science, 9 — Candidates of Medical science; 1 – Candidate of Biological Science.
 Basic subject courses of professional development:
Courses of professional development held at the department cover topical issues of clinical laboratory diagnostics and are focused on practical needs of public health.
Basic forms of studies are lectures, seminars and practical studies. During practical studies listeners get acquainted with the technology of performing clinical-laboratory researches, master uniform and special methods of laboratory analysis, receive information on interpretation of the results of performed researches.
Basic lines of scientific research work:
3 doctoral dissertations and 7 Candidate’s dissertations have been completed over the period of department’s existence.
Basic lines of scientific research are:
- Performing fundamental investigations aimed at expansion and extension of the existing ideas in the sphere of metabolic manifestations and pathogeny of internal diseases;
- Devising new technologies, test-systems, methods, criteria and schemes of laboratory investigations that contribute to the rise of effectiveness of clinical course assessment and prognosis for a disease;
- Devising and creation of import-substituting technologies of clinical-laboratory research;
- Approbation of medical-purpose products – reagent kits, test-systems, consumables used in clinical-laboratory practice;
- Training scientists in the sphere of clinical-laboratory diagnostics and other branches of clinical medicine.
