History of the department
The department of medical expertise and rehabilitation was formed in 1975 as the department of industrial injury assessment. In 2008 it got a new name – department of medical expertise and rehabilitation.
The main peculiarity of educational work at the department is the diversity of courses meant for doctors of various specialties. The department of medical expertise and rehabilitation carries out advanced training on two specialties – medical expert and rehabilitation doctor, as well as professional development for general practitioners and specialists of public health organizations on the questions of medical expertise and rehabilitation.
Efficiency of the work of the whole health care system directly depends on the level of training and qualification of medical staff.
The department of medical expertise and rehabilitation plays a leading role in advanced training and professional development of doctors in one of the most important sections of practical healthcare – medical expertise and rehabilitation. During two years more than 30 new curricula and programs of professional development and retraining have been devised.
More than 300 doctors annually undergo training at the department on different specialties. Student body is made up by deputy head doctors on medical rehabilitation and expertise, head doctors and specialists of medical-rehabilitation assessment boards, heads of rehabilitation departments, rehabilitation doctors, heads of specialized departments (therapeutic, neurologic, pediatric, surgical, orthopedic-traumatological) and doctors of these specialties.
At present the clinical base of the department is the Republican clinical hospital of medical rehabilitation.
 The main directions of work are:
- Professional development of doctors;
- Improvement of educational-methodological process;
- Realization of research studies in accordance with priority tendencies of medical expertise and rehabilitation;
- Rendering consultative-methodological support to healthcare organizations.
Educational-pedagogical work is conducted on the basis of uniform programs developed by the staff of the department and approved by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus.
The main peculiarity of the department is the retraining courses on two specialities: “Medical-social expertise” and “Rehabilitology” – which provide obtaining new qualification for doctors. This required substantial revision and adaptation of curricula and including new sections covering modern high-performance rehabilitation techniques.
The main lines of methodological work of the department are:
- Preparation of e-versions of the course of lectures;
- Preparation of new lectures on topical issues of rehabilitation and medical expertise, improvement of existing methodological learning aids for lectures and practical studies;
- Elaboration of computer attestation programs on two specialties with the view of achievements in medical science, new normative documents and modern demands placed on the training of medical personnel.
Various forms of instruction are used at the department – lectures, seminars, practical studies on the methods of expert-rehabilitation diagnostics, clinical-expert reviews of patients. Practical skills are trained at Republican clinical hospital of medical rehabilitation.
The department of medical expertise and rehabilitation took part in establishing the concept of medical rehabilitation in the Republic of Belarus. The staff of the department gives organizational-methodological assistance to healthcare organizations, takes part in republican, regional and city seminars on the questions of medical expertise and rehabilitation. |
