Economics of health-care system is an extremely important independent area of public health. Efficiency of health-care system is much determined by the level of professional training on economics and financial management of public health. The demand in professional development considerably exceeded the possibilities of the course of economics and accounting that was at first included in the department of public health and healthcare management. So in 2006 the department of economics and accounting was formed by restricting the department of public health and health care management.
There hadn’t been any experience before in creating such department either in medical or any other educational establishments in Belarus. Though similar departments of economics in health-care system work in the majority of medical institutes and academies of post-graduate education in the countries of CIS, Western Europe and America.
The aim of the department is the improvement of professional knowledge in the basics of economic relations in health-care system, financial management, accounting, methodology of planning and economic analysis.
The main directions of work: economics and accounting in health-care system, managerial economics in public health, financial management, marketing, business-planning, material and technical support, formation of income and financing, documenting financial business transactions, pricing medical services, managerial financial consulting based on comparative analysis of medical establishments’ activity, up-to-date techniques of business and management in market environment: economic aspects of personnel management (work assessment); financial and economic and production analysis of work. |
