Yearly about 300 doctors undergo the training at the department. The aim of the courses is the retraining of doctors who has been working as otorhinolaryngologists for at least 3 years. The program of the courses includes:
- the method of clinical examination of patients with the interpretation of the received results
- acquirement of knowledge of etiology, pathogeny, methods of therapeutic and surgical treatment of the diseases
- first aid at critical conditions
- modern conceptions at functional surgery
- prophylaxis of ENT-organs diseases
The program consists of two courses: course of lectures and practical course. The lectures are read in well-equipped special lecture rooms. The practical lessons are given in teaching rooms, in treatment and diagnostic departments, in surgery rooms of different hospitals. The groups are not large: about 16-15 doctors are present at the lectures; 4-5 doctors attend practical lessons. After finishing the courses doctors are tested, either interviewed.
Yearly the department of otorhinolaryngology organizes Republican and International seminars and conferences. The staff of the department actively takes part in the work of European and World Congresses on the actual questions of otorhinolaryngology.
The main directions of the scientific work at the department are: diagnostics and treatment of ear and larynx pathology. The staff developed and implemented original ear treatment methods, which help to restore auditory function.
