Therapeutic faculty includes 15 departments, where the academic staff totals 94 teachers, one of them is a corresponding member from the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences, the others are 22 professors, 38 associate professors.
Doctors undergo advanced training courses in different healthcare establishments: hospitals, clinics and polyclinics. Lessons are taught according to new curricula and programs, approved by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Belarus.
Nowadays electronic equipment is used by all the departments in the process of training. It has become a tendency at the Academy, which has raised the level of professionalism, informativity and a wide accessibility of postgraduate education. The curricular material is introduced by multimedia presentations, modeling and solving of situational problems, thematic discussions.
The faculty provides intensive training both for scientific and pedagogical personnel. In 2006 15 postgraduate students, 116 resident doctors were trained at the Academy. The students have an opportunity to carry out scientific researches not only at departments, but also in well-equipped laboratories of Central Scientific and Research Laboratory.
The department of allegology and pathology deals with the problems of diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation of patients who suffer from bronchial asthma and nettle rash; makes analysis researches which show the influence of production factors on appearance of respiratory organ diseases.
The department of gastroenterology and nutriciology makes a dynamic evaluation of functional condition of gastroesophagial zone taking into consideration intracavitary pH-metry and tonometry; screening and verification of hypersensibility to nutrients; modeling of standardized evaluation of inflammatory diseases of bowels using telecommunicational technologies to improve the quality of medical care; deals with the problems of optimization of amino acids application, their composites and derivates at alimentary organ diseases.
The department of gerontology and geriatrics carries out educational, medical and scientific work at the healthcare establishment “The Republic Hospital for Disabled War Veterans named after Masherov” (average age of the patients is 83 years old, which makes its possible to put into practice modern approaches to examination, treatment and rehabilitation of this group of patients).
The department of dermatovenerology has worked out not only new methods of complex treatment of syphilis among the pregnant and children, but also new pathogenetic methods of psoriasis treatment.
The department of infectious diseases carries out researches dealing with vaccinoprophylaxis, HIV- infection, viral hepatitis, infectious complications among the patient with immunosupression.
Department of cardiology and rheumatology provides training which includes modern diagnostic technologies, such as coronography, electrophysiological researches. The main areas of scientific research: rhythm and conductance disturbances, state value of cardiovascular system among patients suffered from pancreatic diabetes; examination of cardiovascular pathology among the pregnant; antithrombotic therapy; psychosomatic disorders among patients suffered from heart, rheumatic diseases.
Department of clinical pharmacology and therapy develops issues of clinical and pharmaepidemiological evaluation and effectiveness of treatment of cardio and respiratory system.
Department of neurology and neurosurgery has developed technologies of transcranial magnetic stimulation, new treatment methods of disseminated sclerosis, epilepsy, brain strokes and neurological manifestations of spine osteochondrosis. The main areas of scientific researches in neurosurgery - neuroncology: surgery of skull base tumors, craniofascinal neoplasms, endoscopic surgery of hypophysis tumors, combined and complex treatment of gliomas.
Department of psychiatry and addictology applies in the course of studies and scientific work up-to-date instruments, classifications and methods, particularly those of the model F M? -10: versions for scientific researches, versions for primary healthcare, structure interview (CIDI), schemes for the evaluation of personality disorders (IPDE), classifications of personality disorders DSM-4 and others.
Department of psychotherapy and medical psychology makes scientific researches in the following fields: analysis of clinic, diagnostics and treatment of neurotic, psychosomatic diseases and behavioral disorders; psychotherapy in psychology, joint application of psychotherapy and psychopharmacotherapy; psychotherapy at somatic diseases; psychotherapy of people being under physical and psychological stress; psychotherapy in obstetrics and gynecology.
Department of reflexotherapy (acupuncture) deals with modern methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Doctors acquire new treatment technologies, such as multicoloured laserpuncture, ultrasound acupuncture, electroacupuncture with the help of modern equipment.
Department of therapy deals with the analysis of treatment and diagnostic technologies. A special attention is paid to the pathology, extremely actual for the Republic of Belarus (prophylaxis of cardiovascular diseases, measures for death rate reduction and life span growth).
Department of functional diagnostics gives a special consideration to the modern methods of instrumental diagnostics of cardiovascular system diseases.
Department of phthisiopulmonology deals with the questions of early diagnostics of clinical variants and rational therapy on chronic obstructive lung disease, development of complex and surgical treatment methods of «resistant» lung tuberculosis.
Department of endocrinology is the leader in adult and child diabetology and thyroidology in the Republic of Belarus. Main scientific researches are made in the fields: autoimmune diseases of endocrine system; clinical pathogenetic development peculiarities of pancreatic diabetes (1 and 2 types) of different age groups; problems of obesity and metabolic disorders among children and adults; reproductive endocrynology. |
