History of the department:
The department of physiotherapy and balneology was founded in 1977. Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Vladimir Sergeevich Ulaschik became head of the department. Since 2005 the department has been headed by Candidate of Medical Science, Volotovskaya Anna Viktorovna. The department provides advanced training for physiotherapists. Besides, the department prepares doctors in balneology, manual therapy, laser technologies in therapy and surgery, instrument physiotherapy in cosmetology.
The main scientific work of the department -development of new methods of physical therapy. The staff uses different methods: labile and interstitial electrophoresis, medicine electrophoresis, magnetstumulation, impulsive magnetic-laser therapy, electrostimulation and other.
The department has developed original physiotherapeutic devices, which are produced either in Belarus or Russia: devices for magnetotherapy «Hemospok», «Unispok», «Seta», «???-1»; devices for electrotherapy «Biotonus», «Prologue», «Radius», «KEM-1»; devices for laser therapy and magneto-laser therapy «Rodnik», «SNAG», «Yebolit» and others.
Developments of the department contributed a lot into the development of theoretical principles of physiotherapy: the staff put forward the concept of therapeutic action of physical factors, developed the main principles of modern physiotherapy and complex usage of physiotherapeutic methods.
