Departments:

Background. BMRC took it’s launch in 1957 when a group of three specialist was organized, they had only an experimental block and a morphological laboratory. In 1959 a vivarium and an experimental-production laboratory were organized. BMRC was situated on the base of the administrative building of the Institute. In 1987 BMRC was moved to a new five-stored building and two-stored vivarium in Poselok Lesnoy. The floor area of BMRC and vivarium was more than 3000 sq. m.

BMRC Heads were professor Kravtzov (1972 – 1975), professor Vladimir Gorbachev (19975 – 1985 PhD), associate professor Romanchak (1986 – 1999). When professor Khulup became the head of the laboratory (1999 – 2004) the BMRC started to develop increasingly. A number of very important research projects were financed.

In a structural base of the laboratory work organization was put a methodic principle, in accordance with that the groups and subdivisioins were formed.

In 1988 a successful manager of the vivarium was zoo engineer Borschewskaya. In 1999 a chemical-technology group (manager - PhD of Chemical Sciences Bandurko), information computer group (manager – Buraya) were opened. In 2001 the following scientific groups were formed in BMRC: “Stem sell”, “Demyelinating diseases”, “operational nephrology”. In a view of clinical trials conduction demand on hematology and hemostasiology in 2001 a hematological group was established (manager of the group – PhD of Biological Sciences Sherstyuk) and BMRC group (manager – minor research officer Badygina). Since June 2004 till the present time the head of the BMRC is PhD of medical science, associate professor - Igor V. Tarasuk.

For decades a number of BMRC workers have defended their thesis and continue their work in the laboratory successfully: PhD of medical sciences Yuriy Kovalenko, manager of the radioisotope group, PhD of Biological Sciences. Since 1993 PhD of Biological Sciences Rusakovich have been working in the Immune group in BMRC. They all make an important contribution to the medical science of the Republic of Belarus.

In BMRC scientific research work according to the republic health care system priority directions are being conducted:

• rules of pathological process development and adaptation mechanism of the human body to the environmental factors influence are being studied;
• new methods and techniques of human diseases treatment and prevention are worked out;
• new drugs, and immunology substances are created. In 2004 – 2005 26 issues were made: State Program “Pathogenesis and Regulation”. From 2006 on the base of BMRC 11 state budget tasks “Modern Cell and Molecular-Genetics Technologies in Health Care System” were conducted;
• new approaches in regulation rehabilitation and prevention of pathological human diseases 2006 – 2010.

Officers of BMRC pay a proper attention to their qualification improvement. Every year at least 20 research officers improve their qualification in main health care establishments and research centers of Russia, the Republic of Belarus, Germany and France.

The second important task of BMRC is contribution and practical assistance to the PhD students of BelMAPGE.
In 2004 the following thesis were defended: 2 doctorship dissertations, 5 candidate works. In 2005 there were 3 candidates works. Every year the research officers fulfill at least 45 researches on doctor and candidate works. Moreover, constant organizational –methodological work is conducted in BMRC.

When BMRC got up-to-date equipment, there is an opportunity to fulfill medical activity on clinical laboratory diagnostic. BelMAPGE has got a license for this activity accomplishment.
On purpose of SRW (scientific research work) results application in a practical health care system the following trials are conducted on a contract base. For patients from Minsk and it’s region the following paid researches are conducted: hormone, immunology and biochemical.

A big reform in a personnel policy has been made. The research officers have increased from 17 in 1999 till 34 in 2000, till 55 in 2001 (27 are scientific officers) and till 83 in 2006 (6 Doctors of Sciences and 16 candidates).

The following unique SRW equipment has been got and used:

• Thennocycling System Rotor-Gene 3000, «Corbett Research» (Australia);
• Laboratory Laminar, "Labconco Corporation";
• CO2 Incubator, "Kendro Laboratory Products";
• SuperLowTemperature Freezer, "Kendro Laboratory Products";
• Microscope Leica DMLS With Computer Device, «Leica Microsystems»;
• ultrasonic peripheral densitometry LUNAR Achilles InSight, "GENERAL ELECTRIC MEDICAL SYSTEMS".

New divisions creation and material base reinforcement allow creating new scientific directions in BMRC:

• Molecular characteristics studying of bacterial and virus infections of urogenital tract by polymer chain-reaction tools;
• Methods development of directive differentiation of autological mensechemical human stem sells in cardiomiocyte –like sells by ex vivo;
• Peculiarities research and role of macro- and microelementary supply of the population of the Republic of Belarus in development of metabolic bone tissue and liver pathology from regional ecological characteristics;
• Characteristics studying of thyroid hormones binding with target cells by the patients with primary hypothyrosis according to patient’s sensitivity to the tiroxine therapy and development of correction revealed disorders protocol;
• Methods and composition development of original drug for treatment and precaution of smoking consequences by teens;
• Determination of main reasons and pathogenic mechanisms of protein-energetic failure in patients with terminal HPN stadium, getting dialysis therapy, and modern tools and settings development of correction;
• Program complex development that will provide determination of absorbed, equivalent and effective irradiation doses of organs and tissues in patients during x-ray research conduction;
• Implantation materials and articles development with modern nanotechnology application;
• Pre-clinical and clinical trials conduction of drugs in accordance with rules GLP and GMP;
• Development and approbation of new compositional mixuters based on vitamins, amino acids and microelements for pathological changes correction in the body and sport of the highest achievements;
• Development and creation of new diagnostic IFA devices etc…

In accordance with the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus from 04.11.2002, the Shared Employing Center of Unique Scientific Equipment and Device Bio-Medical Research Center (SECUSE BMRC) has been included in the list of acting SECUSEs in the Republic of Belarus (there are 21 centers).

31.12.2004 according to the attestation, State Sciences Technology Committee issued the Certificate of attestation, which is valid within 5 years. In November 2005 a tender for the doping control laboratory establishment was conducted. According to the results the winner was BMRC of BelMAPGE with a great amount of high- qualified specialists from different area of scientific activity. They have a necessary experience for work in a doping laboratory.

In June-August 2006 a standardizing control of BMRC on following directions was conducted:

• clinical laboratory trials conduction;
• pre-clinical and clinical trials of drugs in accordance with GLP and GMP;
• laboratory and clinical trials of scientific-research, diagnostic, surgical and therapy medical equipment.

For 40 years on the base of BMRC more than 300 researches have made their scientific researches, have got consultations and technical assistance. Later they have defended their thesis.
